Things from the garden and a mini quilt I am working on.......

Jenks Herb and Plant Festival 2015

I got to spend a few minutes at the Herb and Plant Festival on Saturday in downtown Jenk, Ok.
I did manage to pick up another air plant to add to my terrarium.  I got some succulents that I will put in a clay pot that is shaped like a fish. Once they start to bloom or grow bigger, they will have shoots that come out of the fishes mouth and hang down.  It is too cute when it does that.  Almost like it has eaten the plants.

Here are some of the iris in the garden that are beginning to bloom.  Over the weekend, there were a few in full bloom.  I will try to get a picture of the massive blooms once most of them are in bloom.  It's really a beautiful site.

Our Coreopsis and Clematis' are in full bloom now too.  I love the colors of spring!

Garden things

Guess what I found in the garden tonight.  I hope he is friendly.

Who can say upcycle?

This cute bag was made out of old jeans and just one side of the top waistband to the crotch.  Using the back pocket and front pocket for stashing things.
I added fabric to make it symmetrical and the same width so as not to make the bag too narrow.  I added feet and some stiffener to the bottom and a little patch to the pocket.  A zippered pocket inside and a pocket for sunglasses.  What can you make out of an old pair of jeans?

What do you do with a UFO?

You finish it!

Over the weekend, I was digging in my "stash" closet for some reason.  Who knows what I was originally thinking.  I got busy cleaning and straightening the closet and getting some fabrics put away that I had dug out long ago.  I'm sure I was thinking of a project, then got distracted onto something else and just never got to what it was I had pulled them out for.

Anyway....in the rearranging of the closet, some fabric fell to the floor.  Guess what it was?  Yep, an unfinished project from years ago.  It is flannel, and I was experimenting with a new way to assemble a quilt as a quilt-as-you-go project.  I didn't like the way it was shaping up, so tossed it into the "I'll figure it out later" pile.

Well, since it presented itself by falling to the floor, I decided to just finish it in it's current state.  It actually turned out quite nice and is a baby quilt size.  It will be warm and a good cuddle blanket for an infant.  I think it finished at 47" x 47" if I remember correctly.

Yes, it's good to get a UFO finished and out of that "pile".

What did you work on over the past week or weekend?  Feel free to share it.
